Fifita officially a Titan

David Fifita has pulled on the Gold Coast jersey for the first time and says he can’t wait to wear the Titans colours in front of the Legion in 2021.

The 20-year-old will officially start pre-season on Monday and says he can’t wait to get to work.

“I’m really excited to be here,” Fifita said.

“I’m excited for my new beginnings and I’m keen to get into training.

“2021 can’t come soon enough.”

The second-rower, who has already played three State of Origin games for Queensland, will link with former Keebra Park State High school-mates Tanah Boyd, Moeaki Fotuaika and AJ Brimson.

“I’ve got good mates here (at the Titans),” Fifita said.

“I knew quite a few of the boys before I jumped on board and that made the decision (to come to the Gold Coast) easier.

Fifita is close friends with his high-school halfback Tanah Boyd, with the two winning the 2017 GIO Cup before going on to make their NRL debut’s.

Another who Fifita is familiar with is fellow recruit Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, with the two playing representative football together through the junior grades.

“We’ve got some great new recruits, Tino, Patrick Herbert, Herman Ese’ese and Sam McIntyre,” Fifita said.

“I’m excited to run out there with my new mates in the Titans jersey (in round one).”

After injuring his ankle in Round 19 against the Paramatta Eels, Fifita says he will soon be back to fitness and will be ready to go in round one.

“I need a good full pre-season to make sure I’m in great shape.

“I’ll probably be in rehab still (when preseason begins) as I had surgery on my ankle at the back end of the season.

“I’ve got good physios and medical staff looking after me.”

He’s also looking forward to growing his game under the direction of the Titans coaching staff.

“I’ve heard Justin (Holbrook) is a great coach,” Fifita said.

“The things that he has done for the team over the back end of the season is really positive.

“I’m excited to work with him and the other coaching staff and I can’t wait.”

Fifita will join the majority of the Titans squad with pre-season to begin on Monday 23rd November.
