Get to know Sam McIntyre

First week of pre-season, how has it been?

It’s been awesome, it’s very exciting to be at the Club.  It’s been hot, it’s definitely a lot different to Western Sydney that’s for sure.  All of the boys are ripping in really hard and it’s really exciting times.

Did you know any of the squad before arriving?

I knew Corey (Thompson) from the Tigers and there are a few boys that I played school footy, so I’ve got a relationship with some of the boys.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?

Honestly, round one – I just want to play some footy again.  I can’t wait to put on the Titans colours and be out there and put on a show for the fans.  Round Two at Cbus Super Stadium against the Broncos, that’s obviously circled as a pretty big one as a derby.  I haven’t played for the Club yet but I’d like to be part of that.

Where did you start playing footy?

I’m a Port Macquarie lad.  Grew up there all my life, spent a couple of years in Newcastle, a couple of years in Western Sydney at the Tigers and now I’m here.  I’ve been here ten days and it’s been awesome.

This is almost home for a Port Macquarie lad?

Yeah it is, I was surprised.  I’ve never been to the Gold Coast until I got here ten days ago, so I didn’t realise it was so close to home.  It’ll be good to have all of my family come here.  So yeah, it’s really good.

Plenty of people will have followed your career on field, what can you tell us about what you enjoy off-field that might give people an insight into Sam McIntyre?

All over social media I always put up my dog.  I’ve got a little Aussie Bulldog, little Melo, he’s like my son my little best mate.  You’ll probably catch us down the beach together.  It’s Melo, like Carmelo Anthony (NBA player).
