The Titans were on hand this morning to welcome the first arrivals into the Gold Coast Airport from Sydney and Victoria after border restrictions to those areas were lifted overnight.

The first passengers were greeted by a mix of Gold Coast icons, including characters from the Village Roadshow Theme Parks, 1029 Hot Tomato’s Galey, Emily Jade and Christo, Channel 9's The Today Show and the Gold Coast Titans.

There were high emotions as families were reunited for the first time in months, while for local businesses, the removal of restrictions brings huge opportunities - particularly for tourism on the Gold Coast.

On hand from the Titans was CEO Steve Mitchell and Club legend, and current General Manager of Football, Anthony Laffranchi.

Mitchell spoke of the important role that the Gold Coast Airport plays as the gateway to the city.

"The airport is the link to our city and its re-opening today will support not just the Titans but the entire Coast community.

"For the Titans the airport is the gateway to many travelling fans, corporate partners and even away fans to attend our games and support our city.

"And on the back of that, people stay on the Gold Coast, dine at restaurants and visit theme parks and that has a compounding effect on the local economy.

"As a club we look forward to welcoming many visitors through the Gold Coast Airport next season and playing our part in getting the Coast back on its feet."
