Brian Kelly is excited to play in Lismore in the pre-season, but his support remains firmly with Ballina when it comes to the Northern Rivers 'local derby.'
Discussing the Titans trial on 27 February at Oakes Oval, with the New Zealand Warriors, the former Ballina Seagull remembers fondly the battles between the two towns.
"My local club was the Ballina Seagulls and Lismore's team is Marist Brothers. Kelly said.
"It was a big rivalry throughout my junior league and still today I go down and watch some games down in the Northern Rivers competition."
With Lismore only a short drive away from Kelly's home town, he is sure to have a big contingent along to support he and the Titans.
"I was born in Lismore, so pretty much all my family and my little boy Swayde, he was born down there as well, so it is great to have the game near where I grew up. Kelly said.
"To have a local trial game there with all the family and friends, I guess I will have to get a few more tickets than the other boys."
