He may have been born in Brisbane but there is no doubting where AJ Brimson's heart lies.

It is clearly with the blue and gold of the Titans

Tickets: Titans v Broncos - Be there for the Derby this Friday

"I was born in Brisbane and I was a Broncos, Queensland fan (growing up) before the Titans existed," Brimson said.

"I always loved watching these battles, but I am a diehard through and through Titan.

"I respect the Broncos as a club, obviously, and I always look forward to these local derbies.

"There is always that little bit in the back of your head because there is that big brother, little brother thing and they are just up the highway.

"I think they feel the same way too because we always have our little battles."

As the two closest teams geographically in Queensland, this game is the true 'local derby' and both sets of fans will want to see their team come out the victors.

A point that isn't lost on either side.

"I guess it is a little more special, especially for the fans, they always get behind it and I think it will be a pretty good atmosphere here," Brimson said.

"We owe it to the fans and we are grateful that they are going to be out here in numbers.

"We want to be a part of making the community of Gold Coast proud, so we will definitely be aiming to put on a good performance for the fans.

"You can't not get up for this game.

The Titans are calling on their Legion of fans and Members to come out in big numbers at Cbus Super Stadium this week as they play their first home game of season 2021. Tickets: Titans v Broncos
