Origin fullbacks go head-to-head at Cbus Super Stadium

The NRL is blessed with a plethora of superstar fullbacks and two of the best will be on show at Cbus Super Stadium in round five.

Both have worn the #1 jumper for Queensland in the State of Origin arena, but on Saturday afternoon they'll be foes as AJ Brimson (Titans) comes up against Kalyn Ponga (Knights).

This clash is worth the price of admission.

The last time these two sides met, it was Brimson who starred, scoring two tries as the Titans ran out 36 points to 6 winners.

The game saw the Gold Coast equal the Club record for most wins in a row.

Brimson was phenomenal at the back end of 2020, culminating in an Origin debut for Queensland at fullback.

The 22-year-old will play his 50th NRL match in the round five clash and will be looking to add to his two tries in 2021.

Brimson is averaging 131 running metres and had three try assists and five tackle breaks across the first four rounds.

Ponga makes his long awaited return from injury for the clash after having off-season shoulder surgery.

The 2018 and 2020 Danny Buderus Medal winner, Ponga is one of the game's most exciting players.

The 23-year-old has played 68 NRL games and is into his fourth season with the Knights after debuting for the North Queensland Cowboys in 2016.

Across 2020, Ponga scored 10 tries and had 14 try assists and 12 line breaks, averaging 184 running metres per game.

If you want to see entertaining footy, keep an eye on the two #1's.

It's Brimson and Ponga, our key matchup for Saturday's round five clash between the Titans and the Knights at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
