Beau Fermor says he doesn't mind what number is on his back, he just wants to be in the Titans 17.

After making his first start for 2021 from the bench in round eight, Fermor ended up filling in at centre after a injury to Corey Thompson forced a backline reshuffle.

In 38 minutes on-field, Fermor ran for 106 metres.

He says he doesn't mind if it is in the centres, second row or off the bench - he'll fill whatever role the coach needs.

"I'm happy doing the role off the bench if that's what the team needs me to do," Fermor said.

"I'm happy to start wherever the team needs me to go.

"I'm happy with wherever Justin sees fit."

Fermor's opportunity came after Corey Thompson left the field with an ankle injury.

He says the winger will be a massive loss for the team after his great start to the season.

"I gave him (Thompson) a message last night and he seemed alright but I'm sure he is disappointed as we all are.

"He's been killing it this year, I'm sure he is disappointed but he's got to focus on getting his ankle right now."

The focus this week will be on defence according to Fermor as the Titans prepare for a trip to Campbelltown to take on the Wests Tigers.

"We can't be leaking as many points as we have the last three weeks.

"You're not going to win games by leaking that many points so that's definitely something we are working on.

"We'll be doing plenty of edge movements and making sure we are doing the right thing in defence.
