Halfback battle full throttle in Coffs Harbour

They wear the same number, but possess very different games.

The round 12 Macca's Match-up sees the halfbacks go head-to-head, with the Titans Jamal Fogarty up against returning Shark Shaun Johnson.

Fogarty has been a picture of consistency in 2021.

The Titans co-captain is always an important figure for his Club and will be again this weekend in the round 12 clash at Coffs Harbour.

Having played all 11 games in 2021, Fogarty has been averaging 346 kick metres per game.

He has excelled with the kicking tee as well and has slotted his last 16 conversion attempts.

He'll be hoping his forward pack, boosted by David Fifita's inclusion, will win the middle battle to give him plenty of attacking opportunities against Cronulla.

Johnson will play just his fourth game of 2021 this weekend.

The 30-year-old, will return from a hamstring injury and play his 200th NRL match in the game against the Titans this weekend.

Asked about Johnson's return, Titans players Patrick Herbert and Mitch Rein said there is no doubt he provides a spark to the Sharks attack but it'll be about ensuring they can limit his opportunities with the ball.

“Shaun has always been a freak and we know that he has that X-factor about him," Herbert said.

“I’m sure if all 13 of us that are out on the field do our job than that will nullify his game to a minimum, he might do some freakish stuff, but we can’t really help that."

“He is super unpredictable," Rein said.

“They’ve got a pretty experienced forward pack and they play off the back of them so if we can meet them in the middle and do a job on their big guys than we can shut them out of the game."

In his three games so far this year, Johnson is averaging 237 kick metres and has just one try assist and one line break assist.

Both Fogarty and Johnson will be looking for strong performances as both the Titans and the Sharks chase back-to-back wins.
