Steve Mitchell has Vinnies CEO Sleep Out fundraising target in his sights

Gold Coast Titans CEO, Steve Mitchell, will be sleeping rough on 17 June as he supports the Vinnies CEO Sleepout for the second time.

Having previously participated in 2019, Mitchell sees the event as an import way the Gold Coast can lift up its fellow citizens.

The event sees leaders in business, community and government sleep without shelter on one of the longest nights of the year to help change the lives of Australians experiencing homelessness.

As part of the event, Mitchell is fundraising with a personal goal of $5,000 to go towards Vinnies efforts to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty in Australia.

So far the Titans CEO has raised $3,994 towards his goal, with the event just under two weeks away.

Mitchell says that the event aims to address the fact that not everyone is fortunate enough to have access to food and shelter.

"We live in such a wonderful city, but not everyone in our community enjoys a roof over their head and a meal each night." Mitchell said.

"Our people and our community are integral to the Gold Coast Titans and by supporting the Vinnies CEO Sleepout it is one way that we can assist their work in getting those affected by homelessness back on their feet again.

"You don’t need to look far to see that we are not immune to the problems of homelessness.

"To know a portion of our population don't know where they will be sleeping each night is distressing.

"Hopefully this event and the fundraising associated can go some way to supporting Vinnies programs and improving the life of many people across the Gold Coast."

In 2020, $5.7 million dollars was raised to help break the cycle of homelessness and poverty in Australia.
