"Today is a historical day in the history of our club, to announce our women's team and we can't wait to get cracking."

With those words from Titans Co-Owner Rebecca Frizelle, the Titans NRLW side was official.

Earlier today on the very ground the Titans NRLW side will play on, the club announced it would be entering the expanded 2021 competition.

Standing alongside Titans CEO, Steve Mitchell and ARL Commissioner Kate Jones, Frizelle said this was a monumental day that the club had been building towards for a number of years.

"We are so excited about today. This is something we have been working towards since 2018 when we put our name forward to have a women's side in the NRLW," Frizelle said.

ARLC Chairman Jones used her own anecdote to acknowledge how far women's rugby league had come.

"When I was growing up and playing footy in the backyard with my brothers, I had to pretend I was Alfie Langer, admittedly that was because I was short blonde and a bit cheeky," Jones said.

"We didn't have the female players and prime time players at the elite level that my daughter Gracie now gets to see on our screens.

"It is really emotional for me that we now get to show our very best on prime time television where they deserve to be."

The draw is still to be released but it is anticipated to bring two double-headers to Cbus Super Stadium where the women's team will play on the same day as the men's side.

Titans CEO, Steve Mitchell said the women's game and pathways was an important strategic pillar for the Titans.

"This is a wonderful day for the club," Mitchell enthused.

"It is a strategic imperative for the organisation, it is one of the big missing pieces that is now fulfilled.

"We get to work with these wonderful athletes and they get a chance to represent the Gold Coast.

"As a nursery this is one of the biggest female participation patches you will see in the country.

"They will play here, at Cbus Super Stadium, in front of our home crowd, so that is extremely exciting for us, our members and all of our stakeholders.

"We are looking forward to the team making us proud."

Stay tuned for more information as the NRLW draw is announced along with the Titans coaching staff and player group.
