Feeney to lead inaugural Titans NRLW side

Former NRL player and current Jillaroos Assistant Coach Jamie Feeney will guide the Titans inaugural NRLW side, named as Head Coach for the 2021 season.

NRLW Coach - Jamie Feeney

Feeney, who played 132 games for the Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm, has been a leading figure in the women’s game having worked as the Elite Female Pathways Manager for the NRL.

“It’s a privilege to be part of a new franchise in the NRLW,” Feeney said.

“The growth in the game has been massive and the growth in participation has been massive and now I get to hopefully get some success with the girls that have been here on the Coast waiting for an opportunity.

“It’s really exciting to be starting a team from the ground up and setting the standards and expectations that come with that.

The Titans will announce their playing squad in the coming weeks, with Feeney saying there is a simple criteria that he’s looking for from his players.

“Our squad will be made up of players that are willing to work hard,” Feeney said.

“We’re looking at people that want to play well for their team mates, for the club and people that want to represent this region.

“I think we will be competitive from day one and of course we want to win.

“A premiership this year is the plan and hopefully that comes to fruition.”

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell says Feeney’s experience will be vital as the Titans get ready for the 2021 season kick-off.

“Jamie is a school teacher by trade and like most school teachers come coaches, he has a great way of communicating and educating his athletes.

“He’s been involved in the game from grassroots to the professional level and has a great understanding of our pathways.

“We’re very confident in Jamie’s ability to lead this group and we’re excited about the energy that he will bring to our women’s program.”
