Karli's passion on show as she eyes Titans debut

Ask Karli Hansen a question about the upcoming NRLW season and you can hear the excitement in her answers.

The New Zealand Kiwi Ferns representative is part of the inaugural Titans NRLW squad and says after a long wait with rescheduled competitions, she’s beyond keen to get started in her new role representing the Coast.

“Words can’t describe the feeling I felt when I saw the draw come out,” Hansen said.

“I had goosebumps, my heart was racing, excitement was through the roof andnow knowing we are officially kicking off in 2022 I can finally show my parents the games they can fly over and come to.

“After a few setbacks and the uncertainty with the season going ahead in 2021, I know not only myself, but the wider playing group is thrilled to hear the season is a go, especially with the Titans kicking off the first game of women’s footy for the year and to be a part of the new generation of Titans showcasing the new logo.”

Hansen and the Titans will officially open the 2021 (to be played in 2022) NRLW season, with a first up clash against the Dragons in Newcastle on Sunday 27th February.

The team will get a chance to run onto Cbus Super Stadium in front on home fans in round four as the Titans host the Brisbane Broncos.

“Being the inaugural NRLW Titans to play at home but also bringing that new energy, new feel, new generation of Titans to the game is exciting,” Hansen said.

“The logo is sick as so I can’t wait to play in our new kit.

“Also, the fact we are playing the Broncos (in our first ever home game) is even better. What better way to play at home than against our Queensland rivals?

“The Broncos have such a quality side with quality coaching staff which I think is equal to what the Titans have to offer on the field, hence the excitement about why this game will be the pinnacle of the best of the best in QLD and the NRLW.

“It will mean a lot to play against the best players in the game.

“As a player coming from New Zealand having this pipe dream, watching the ladies play on screen a year ago and now I’ll be playing against them.

“For this to all happen within two years, I never would have thought I’d be here so fast.

“To have the opportunity to play for the inaugural Titans team means so much - I am proud to be a Titan.”
