Several players have stood up during pre-season and presented their case for a starting position in 2022.

Next Saturday they'll get their chance to impress the coaching staff and fans as the emerging talent in the Titans squad take to the field in the first local derby of 2022.

Here are 5 key players to watch in the Titans vs Broncos trial:

Paul Turner

The New Zealand-born back has been a great pick-up for the Titans after a shoulder injury hampered the 21-year-old’s season last year, receiving praise from the club’s high performance staff for his hard-work to return fit and firing.

Primarily a five-eighth, Turner has played all three of his NRL games off the bench as vibrant utility that could fill any vacancy in the back seven.

With the No. 14 jersey still up for grabs and the Titans coaching staff still unsure what role he'll play, the upcoming clash against the Broncos will be a great opportunity for the new recruit to show the Gold Coast what he can do.

Will Smith

In his first season for the Titans, versatile playmaker Will Smith will be looking to force his way into the Titans spine or lock up the all-important utility role.

Smith was a core component of the Parramatta Eels' squad in 2021 with his versatility across the park helping them to endure an injury-riddled back half of the season.

Able to play in the halves, hooker or backline, Smith will be looking to bring his experience and skills to the table against the Broncos and prove himself ahead of the 2022 season.

Greg Marzhew

Debuting in 2021, the powerhouse winger quickly established himself as one of the strongest and most destructive ball-runners on the roster.

Averaging 185 metres a game with ball in hand, Marzhew has proven to be a massive handful for opposing teams and will be looking to prove this again in the Broncos trial.

With strong competition for the wing positions for season ’22, Marzhew will be looking to cement his spot with another strong performance against Brisbane.

Tanah Boyd

Another keen playmaker, Boyd is capable of playing hooker, five-eighth, and his preferred position, halfback.

A skilful ball-player and strong defender, the Keebra Park alumni has been a standout in the 2022 pre-season.

The Gold Coast junior has played 21 games for the Titans over the last two seasons and will be looking to use this experience to showcase his skills against the Broncos on Feb 19.

Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui

‘Mini Tino’ has been a revelation with the Titans this pre-season.

Spending the summer on a train and trial deal at Parkwood, the middle forward’s efforts and work ethic is a carbon copy of his older brother’s impressing Justin Holbrook and the coaching staff.

After a strong year in the QRL’s Hastings Deering Colts competition last season, the 20-year-old is one to watch in the upcoming trial, pushing hard to be a Hostplus Cup regular in 2022 and a Titan in years to come.
