Who have been the Titans’ top pre-season performers?

The Gold Coast Titans have been unstoppable this pre-season.

The squad is fit and firing, ready to build on last year's top eight success and the healthy competition is heating up for places in the Round 1 team to take on Parramatta on March 13.

Assisting Gold Coast high performance staff as they prepare for the upcoming season has been the club's collaboration with functional fitness partner Fitstop.

The Titans gym was revamped for the new season, implementing Fitstop functional layout and flow within the club’s high-performance program with great success.

First look into the Titans new Gym built by Fitstop

The Titans have toiled through pre-season to get themselves in peak shape ready for a big year ahead. Take a look at the following players who have smashed their personal records, through the lens of Fitstop’s four main training pillars:

LIFT

In the new Fitstop gym, 2019 Paul Broughton medallist Moeaki Fotuaika sits at the top of the list, able to squat 220 kilograms - the equivalent of two times his body weight.

Greg Marzhew holds the tag of being the strongest at the club with his deadlift, raising 270 kilograms.

LIFT sessions are programmed using elements of progressive overload and functional strength. Expect compound lifts, isolation exercises, stability and mobility, to promote an improved quality of movement and overall muscle development. Feel stronger, look leaner and move better.

PERFORM

Topping the 1.2 kilometre shuttle run drill was edge forward Beau Fermor who smashed it in four minutes, 30 seconds - a new club record. Tanah Boyd and Toby Sexton were also impressive and their times put them in elite NRL status.

PERFORM sessions are programmed to take your athletic performance to the next level. Through the inclusion of compound lifts, explosive movements, fast intervals and full body burners, you will increase both your anaerobic and aerobic capacity. Expect to work with intensity, push your limits and unleash your inner athlete.

CONDITION

The fastest Titan of 2022 goes to Alofi'ana Khan-Pereira, who has clocked 36 kilometres per hour on the radar gun. This was closely followed by Beau Fermor and Jojo Fifita, registering 35.5 kilometres per hour.

CONDITION sessions are programmed to put your cardiovascular and muscular endurance to the ultimate test. Expect a variety of full body conditioning, high intensity exercises that will keep your heart rate high for an extended period of time and push your limits both mentally and physically.

SWEAT

The top five players who have been the biggest overall improvers in strength from the gym are Sam McIntyre, Jaimin Jolliffe and Tanah Boyd alongside Dave Fifita and Patrick Herbert.

SWEAT sessions are programmed to put team performance to the test. Rally your teammates to work towards a target, share your results and feel the sense of achievement.
