NRL 2022: Titans, Experienced forward to make season debut against Tigers

Gold Coast Titans hard man Jarrod Wallace will get his first opportunity to impress in the new year after being called up to the side for Thursday night's matchup against the Wests Tigers.

Replacing Isaac Liu, who has been ruled out after testing positive to COVID-19, the 177-game prop is looking forward to his first chance to break back into the top 17 after narrowly missing out in the opening three rounds of the season.

The former Maroons representative has been in and amongst the team over the last two rounds as the 18th man, as well as a strong showing for Burleigh in the season opener of the Hostplus Cup, making 134 metres over 13 runs - 70 of those post-contact, as well as 24 tackles at an impressive 96 percent efficiency.

Fellow teammate Corey Thompson revealed the damaging prop forward was bursting with energy when told of his potential opportunity to make his season debut.

"When he found out he was playing, he sprinted out onto the training field. I haven't seen him so excited all year," Thompson said.

"I'm sure Jarrod is ready and he'll do what he usually does."

The final 17 will be named at 6.05pm on Thursday.
