Brimson firing on all cylinders for second crack at Eels

AJ Brimson was agonisingly forced to watch on from the sidelines in week one against Parramatta, but the Titans five-eighth is ready and raring to go this time round as the two sides meet again this Saturday.

Going down 32-28 in a thrilling season opener, the new No. 6 missed the clash due to injury, but has looked good and felt even better since returning for the Gold Coast in the last three matches... including scoring the match-winner in last Thursday's gritty victory at Cbus Super Stadium.

Despite still being on a modified warm-up program due to "old age" according to the 23-year-old, he's dismissed any talk of further injury as he prepares for a big clash this weekend at home to keep the winning streak alive.

"I'm a bit sore after a short turnaround, but we've got the long turnaround this week, so just just taking the time to get me right for Saturday," Brimson said.

"I do extended warm-ups these days because I'm getting a bit old, so I just make sure my body is warm before I get on the fields and I'll keep doing that for the next couple of weeks.

"But, it's all good."

The Titans steal the win!

After their opponents had a night out at CommBank Stadium on Sunday night, Brimson is weary of the challenge against the Eels, coming off their big 48-14 win against the Dragons.

"They bring a lot as we saw Sunday night and throughout the season so far. They are a quality side and they just got us in Round 1, so I'm sure they're going to come ready, but we're also going to be ready," Brimson said.

"I thought in Round 1 we were ok... just a bit unlucky. I think a few of the tries we could have stopped and hopefully we will solve this weekend and if we're saving one or two, then that'll give us a good chance to win."

With plenty of talk around Mitchell Moses' stellar performance, the playmaker is fully aware the Parramatta No. 7 is not the only player to watch out for.

"They've got a lot of quality players. Their whole spine is pretty good, so we've got to be more focused on our our roles defensively instead of just one player," Brimson said.

"Obviously we're gonna identify what they can do, but we've got our defensive principles that we will stick to for Saturday."

To help the Titans remain unbeaten at home, they welcome back three of the side's best in the opening month; Phil Sami and Isaac Liu alongside the No. 6's left side back-rower Beau Fermor, who all return after missing the Tigers clash due to COVID-19.

"He's been awesome. We've been forming a good combination on the left there and he's probably been our best player so far," Brimson said.

"He's been texting me already, getting a bit of FOMO watching the game on the weekend, so he'll be keen to get back out there and score some more tries."
