Cowboys claim Queensland Derby
The North Queensland Cowboys have claimed the Queensland Derby with a 32-6 win against the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium on Thursday night.
Despite the home side kick-starting the scoring, the Cowboys put the foot down and made it two from two against the Titans in their two clashes this year, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow claiming a double in the Thursday night affair.
Erin Clark tried his heart out - switching between hooker and lock - running for 117 metres and making 33 tackles as the Maccas man of the match.

The Gold Coast celebrated Indigenous Round at Cbus Super Stadium and after an attacking start by both teams, the Titans were first to score with a classy play from the club’s playmaking duo.
Late in the count, the Titans shifted the ball from right to left, finding Toby Sexton, who linked up with AJ Brimson in the hope of breaking the line.
The stand-in skipper stepped a number of Cowboys defenders, before throwing an inside ball back to his No. 7 – following nicely in support – who finished the play by finding the chalk to draw first blood in the Queensland Derby.
Titans halves combine to open the scoring
The Cowboys hit back in the 28th minute with a well-timed run from Heilum Luki and were in again three minutes later when Murray Taulagi ran down the touch line to take a 10-6 lead.
Further points ensued the opposition’s way in the 35th minute through Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to head into the sheds ahead 16-6.
The second half went all the Cowboys way, with tries to Reece Robson (68th minute), Tabuai-Fidow's double in the 72nd minute and Peta Hiku finishing things off with four minutes to play.
The Titans are back home next Saturday, hosting South Sydney in Inspire Round.
