'It means a lot to us': Fotuaika proud to don Pasifika jersey

Moe Fotuaika is beaming with excitement to represent his culture this weekend against South Sydney.

Proud of his Tongan heritage, he along with his Gold Coast teammates will be wearing a special Pasifika jersey as part of the club's Inspire Round - celebrating the Titans' community programs under the guise of the club's charitable arm - Titans Together.

This special design pays respect to the past, present and future of the many peoples and cultures throughout the Pacific.

Created in five sections, the jersey acknowledges the great ancestors, their epic voyages across vast oceans, present day Pasifika people, and their evolution, contribution and progression for future generations.

It will also help raise funds for the NRL's Tonga Relief fund, which is continuing to help the proud rugby league nation recover from the devastating volcano eruption and tsunami that hit earlier this year.

"It means a lot to us Tongans and Polynesians around the world as well as in the footy community," Fotuaika said.

"We get to represent our culture and 20 percent of the funds raised from this jersey will go towards the NRL Tonga Relief."

There is plenty on the line in the Saturday afternoon clash against the Rabbitohs, with almost every game of the year now must-win for the club to play finals footy.

The barnstorming front rower knows the stakes of the contest and is hoping he can do his heritage proud with a big win at home.

"It's definitely important [for us to get the win] this weekend. Being in this jersey, we get to represent our culture and it's a really big game for us this weekend," Fotuaika said.

"Obviously with what's happened the last couple of months, we haven't been able to get too many wins, but it'll be good this weekend.

"We've got a lot to play for, representing our heritage, so hopefully we can go out this weekend and put on a good performance."

Getting through just over 35 minutes in his return game from an ankle sprain, the powerful prop is happy to be back to full fitness and is ready to help outmuscle the Rabbitohs in the very important contest.

"[My ankle] is feeling good. I played with it last weekend and got through the minutes I needed to get out on the field, but I'll be 100 percent this weekend," Fotuaika said.

"It'll be good to go out there and play with full health."
