The Titans to watch in the final rounds of the Hastings Deering Colts

It's hard to believe there's only six rounds to play of the Hastings Deering Colts competition, with a number of Titans in fine form for both the Burleigh Bears and Tweed Seagulls.

Leading into the finals series, it's going to be a big charge home for both Gold Coast affiliate clubs, both sitting mid-table on the ladder, with every win crucial to ensure qualification into the all-important playoffs.

Tweed - currently eighth with five wins and five losses - are gearing up for a big clash against the top-four Redcliffe Dolphins this weekend, before meeting three top-eight teams in their final five matches, plus a local derby against the Bears to throw in the mix in their run home.

There have been quite a large contingent of Gold Coast-contracted players in action for the Seagulls' Under 21s, including young up-coming playmaker Tom Weaver, who has pushed his case for a Hostplus Cup debut - getting closer each week with a debut start as the 18th man last weekend.

The 19-year-old has been a mainstay for his Colts side with the 'c' next to his name as the key playmaking linchpin and will look to continue to develop his game by training through the week with the Titans first grade side at Parkwood before running out for Tweed.

Joining him has been a number of other familiar names to Titans members and fans, including fullback Jaylan De Groot who has racked up a whopping 12 tries across the season so far, with the plan to score plenty more four-pointers in a big finish to the season.

The Cudgen junior is currently training with the Titans first grade side one day a week and starred in the No. 1 jersey against the Broncos at the start of the year in the club's pre-season trial; scoring a try and playing a hand in another. The gun back was also rewarded with a call-up to the New South Wales Under 19 camp during the Representative Round.

Klese Haas has also been a shining light in the Colts this season, scoring a bag of four-pointers before being promoted to play in the Hostplus Cup the last few weeks.

The young brother of Broncos enforcer Payne is set to join the Titans full-time from next season after scintillating form in the QRL's junior competition, notching up five tries in only a handful of games as well as being a stronghold in his side's forward pack.

Hat-trick Haas

It's expected a number of other Seagulls players on the Titans radar, including Kaleb Ngamanu, Ben Liyou, Oskar Bryant, Ryan Foran and Charlie Murray will also have strong ends to the year ahead of finals, with some of the aforementioned getting an opportunity at Reserve Grade level.

The Burleigh Bears are sitting only one spot behind their cross-town rivals, in ninth with four wins and six losses, preparing to face Ipswich at home this Saturday.

The princes of Pizzey Park have a challenging draw on their radar to finish the year, with three of their last five games after this weekend against teams inside the top-eight, which includes against the Seagulls.

They do get to play four of their last six games on the Coast, with only away trips to Mackay and Toowoomba to finish the season.

It's set to be a big finish for both Colts teams in the lead-up to the finals series and there's no doubt an interesting six weeks will play out.
