'They've cost us every week': Errors in the way of Titans' finals hopes

The equation couldn't be any more simpler for Karyn Murphy... win and her team remains in.

Needing to take down Parramatta in Melbourne this weekend to remain in the finals hunt, the determined Titans mentor knows the magnitude of this weekend's game in order to be playing in the playoffs in the short five-round season.

"We're none from three for the start of the year, so obviously the situation is pretty simple," Murphy said.

"We've got to win our last two games, starting with the Eels this week to be a chance at the finals in such a short competition."

Whilst the Coast might be anchored to sixth on the competition ladder, that certainly isn't front of mind for the squad, upbeat about their ability to finish the season strong and sneak into the top four - much like the Roosters did last season to eventually win the premiership.

"We're extremely positive we can win our final two games and of course the start of our season has been disappointing," Murphy said.

"Round 1 was pretty disappointing, but we improved against the Knights and then last week, a few errors cost us and they've cost us every week.

"The girls are definitely positive and working hard and we've had another good week at training this week, so it's simple... we've got a win this week against the Eels down in Melbourne."

'It's a pretty simple equation' - Murphy

With the crucial focus on reducing the number of errors and penalties per match - only completing at 68 percent his season - Murphy is confident should they rectify that, the points and good performances will come.

"[The mistakes] are what's really frustrated us as a team. We've had some good patches and we've shown what we can do, but then we'll make an error and we're not defending our errors and it's costing us," she said.

"If we can just get that right and cut those errors out and some some penalties as well with some discipline - which probably comes from frustration - we'll see the football team that we can be."
