New recruit Aaron Schoupp has arrived at Titans pre-season and is ready to fight for a starting centre position for 2023.
Speaking to the media this week, Schoupp said he relishes the opportunity to work hard and fight to earn his position in the Titans side.
"Competition is healthy and it creates a good team morale." the 23 year old said.
"If we're all working hard and fighting for spots the coaches will pick the best two centres for the team.
"It will create good friendships too, all of us competing at training."
Aaron will have his work cut out for him in 2023, with a number of teammates including Patrick Herbert, Brian Kelly, Phil Sami and Jojo Fifita aiming to secure the centre role as well.
Joining the Titans squad this week, Schoupp was glad to have a familiar face from his former side joining him.
"Obviously the first week can be a challenge just getting to know everyone, but all the boys have been really good in welcoming me and Joe [Stimson] and the coaches have been really clear on what they want us to do."
Asked about his motivations for joining the Gold Coast Titans this season, Aaron said it was the allure of playing under the Titans coaching staff that motivated him to end his previous contract early and move North.
"The biggest thing for me in coming to the Titans was the confidence Justin and the coaching staff had in me.
"They just narrowed down what they want me to do and they’re backing me and what I bring to the table so having that in the back of my mind, everyone plays better when they know they’re being backed.
"I want to repay the opportunity to the club for bringing me up here and showing them why they did."
