With Christmas just around the corner, the Titans squad have just over a week remaining before they break for the festive season.
In the first six weeks of rigorous and intense pre-season training, the playing group have responded well to the various programs in order to be ready for the 2023 campaign, with a majority of the roster still fit and firing on all cylinders despite being tested physically and mentally by Gold Coast high performance staff.
However; as always in this period of the year, there are a few Titans currently completing rehab as they manage slight niggles due to the increased heavy training load. A number of stars are also returning from long-term injuries, but are progressing well.
Whilst these players may not be seen for very long on the training field at Parkwood at the moment, they are still working extremely hard away from the main group with their strength and off-feet conditioning.
Head of physical performance Cameron Ferguson sat down with Titans.com.au to provide an update on the current squad.
Sam Verrills
Upon going in for minor shoulder surgery a fortnight ago, Sam Verrills is recovering as good as expected and is fully functional.
With Christmas just around the corner, a cautious approach will be taken with the new dummy-half option and he'll be integrated into training early January.
Josiah Pahulu and Oskar Bryant
Both players are currently completing off-feet conditioning but are fine.
They are both young guys that are adapting to the loads that the high performance team is throwing at them at the moment and because of that, a cautious approach is being taken.
AJ Brimson
AJ is currently on a modified program that has been prescribed for him which really focuses on his strength. There has been some positive progressions there, which is going to hold him in good stead for the pre-season, which will see him integrated to the main group in January leading into the season.
Patrick Herbert and Aaron Booth
Both Pat Herbert and Aaron Booth's recovery from knee injuries are coming along really well and are tolerating everything that is being thrown at them. Recovering from an ACL injury is a matter of time and ensuring consistency with strength and loading, in which they're both going really well.
