The Gold Coast Titans have wrapped up the pre-Christmas training block with a team building camp that has built on the work done on field over the past two months.
Titans Coach Justin Holbrook says as the players prepare to break for Christmas, the camp was a way of finishing the first block of training with something fresh to continue to challenge the group.
“There has been lots of different activities and activities based around mental resilience and team building," he said.
“It supports our team culture and our program that Fergs (Cameron Ferguson) has been in charge of for the last seven weeks."
While the surrounds had changed and the challenges were slightly different, Holbrook says the camp was about building on the work done at Parkwood.
“It is just adding to that and doing similar things to what we’ve been doing, but it is a different way to finish up before Christmas and to get away as a group for a few days.
“It’s good for us to be able to observe most of the activities and rely on the players themselves rather than the coaching staff.
“As coaching staff, we’ve had the opportunity to jump in which we’ve enjoyed and yeah it has been a good program."
Holbrook says it's been good to see how the players have responded when pushed to their limits.
“The players have been terrific … they’ve really done an exceptional job and they are excelling," he said.
“It is all about pushing yourself further than you thought you could and they are doing a great job of that."
The Titans finish a strong pre-Christmas block of training and Holbrook says it is now about enjoying the holiday period with family and friends before the hard work begins again in a fortnight.
“We will finish up then for the break and we will have a meeting around what we’ve done in the seven weeks to Christmas, but it is important now with their two week break that they don’t slip backwards," he said.
“We’ve got to continue moving on and January is a big month for us."
