Kelly gets golden ticket to weather the Storm at Cbus

Brian Kelly approached Cbus Super Stadium with a big smile on his face on the first day of tickets going on sale for the 2023 season.

The added enthusiasm wasn't just because of the joy the Legion bring him when they pack the stands week-in, week-out; but his excited demeanour was also because he will now be permitted to play in the Titans' first home game of the season against the Melbourne Storm on Saturday, March 18.

After receiving a four-game suspension from a dangerous throw charge in the penultimate round of the 2022 season, the Gold Coast centre was set to miss the opening three weeks of the competition which included the Saturday afternoon opener at Robina.

But approval from the ARLC Judiciary chair to include this year's All Stars match - in which the proud Bundjalung man would've been eligible to play in - means he'll now be back for Round 3.

"I was a bit bummed missing our last game against the Warriors at the end of last year, but to shorten it from three weeks to two weeks is pretty exciting because I can now hopefully play back at home against the Storm," Kelly told titans.com.au.

The Ballina Seagulls junior has called Cbus Super Stadium home since his Under 20s days and after a short stint at Manly, has been blessed to have the Legion cheering him on since his return to the Titans in 2019.

"It's my favourite stadium of the whole competition. The seats are nice and close and it's not too far from home, so I can get plenty of my family and friends to come up as well," Kelly said.

Despite Kelly missing this weekend's first trial, the 125-gamer is eager to see the next generation of stars on display at Sunshine Coast Stadium, including his fellow outside backs who'll line-up against the Broncos.

"I'm really excited to see Lofi (Khan-Pereira), Jojo (Fifita) and Trey (Spry) out there," he said.

"After all the work we've all put in the pre-season, I can't wait to see us get out there and show it in the trials."
