Key three: Brimmo's back baby as Titans cage Tigers

A masterclass from Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and AJ Brimson has helped the Gold Coast Titans defeat the Wests Tigers in style, notching up a 28-12 win at Cbus Super Stadium.

Putting together a complete performance at home to get their sixth win of the season, the Titans dominated from start to finish to raise the roof at home and kick-start a surging run to September heading into the club's final bye.

Here are the key talking points:

1. Titans shake off slump with 80-minute showing

The Gold Coast are back in the winner's circle thanks to a dominant and commanding performance against the Tigers, leading from start to finish to bring up their sixth victory of the season.

In front of a promising 10,242 Thursday night showing at Cbus Super Stadium, the home side welcomed back a number of players in style, breaking a three game losing streak to stay in touch with the top eight and the way it was done has not only Titans members and fans but coach Justin Holbrook most pleased.

Typically thwarted by second half fade outs in the past, that Achilles heel was put on ice in the display, leading 16-6 at half-time before going on with it in the second 40 to win that period with three tries to one in the 28-12 performance.

2. Brimson, Jolliffe superb in returns

They may have been sidelined with injury for a number of weeks, but the impeccable service resumed as per normal for both AJ Brimson and Jaimin Jolliffe in their respective returns.

With the Titans No. 1 having missed the past four games due to a hamstring tear, he quickly made up for lost time with a four-pointer in the 10th minute, before playing his hand with a deft left foot kick for Jayden Campbell to find the line and complete a scintillating passage of play in the 33rd minute.

Super Campbell swoops in

The try involvements didn't stop there for Brimson, who was just as lively in the second half and set up his close friend and milestone man Phil Sami to score in his 100th NRL appearance and all but confirm the two points remain on the Gold Coast.

The 25-year-old was given an early breather with six minutes to play, resting up for a big game coming up in a fortnight's time against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

For Jolliffe - returning from a ruptured pec on the eve of Round 2 - he got through a solid 26 minute stint and made a huge difference, finishing with 86 running metres - 41 of those post-contact, along with two tackle breaks and 21 tackles.

His contribution complimented the efforts starting props Moeaki Fotuaika and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui showcased to open the game, as well as proving to coach Justin Holbrook just how much the ever-reliable front rower was missed during his time on the sidelines.

3. Tino to await judiciary decision

It will be a nervous wait for Titans skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui who was placed on report in the 17th minute after taking a carry whilst the Titans were in possession.

Having already been charged in 2023 with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - fined $1800 in Round 12 - the inspirational leader will be hoping to receive good news as he prepares to re-enter Queensland camp on Monday and secure the Origin series for the Maroons in Game II on Wednesday week.

The match review committee will review the game on Friday morning before delivering its findings with titans.com.au to bring you the latest information.
