Affiliate wrap: Fifita dominates in Tweed's takedown of Mackay

Jojo Fifita was unstoppable in his second match back in the Hostplus Cup, helping Tweed power home to defeat the Cutters 32-28 in Mackay.

What turned out to be a see-sawing contest on Saturday night in North Queensland, the 20-year-old dynamo returned to the centres in his third outing for the Seagulls this season as he fights his way back into the NRL and was all-class in his 80 minutes on field.

The talented Gold Coast outside back finished the game with 11 runs making 165 metres, as well as two line breaks and six tackle breaks; but what was most impressive was his defensive efforts, making 17 tackles at 95 percent efficiency.

Scoring a try in the 12th minute, he then played a big part in Tweed's comeback in the final 10 minutes, with Kaleb Ngamanu scoring a crucial four-pointer with only four minutes on the clock before Toby Sexton slotted a penalty goal right on full-time to ice the victory.

Fifita's return to the centres saw Treymain Spry play his first game of the season at fullback, coming up with two try assists and three line break assists to help his teammates cross the white stripe.

The Seagulls currently sit seventh after notching up their eighth win of the season and prepare to face their cross-town rivals and fellow Titans affiliates Burleigh who got the opportunity to rest over the weekend with the bye.
