Affiliate wrap: Spry helps Seagulls fly over Devils

Treymain Spry made the Hostplus Cup Indigenous Round one to remember, starring for the Tweed Seagulls in their big 30-16 win over the Norths Devils at the weekend.

The 23-year-old flyer, who is of Torres Strait Islander descent, finished the Round 16 fixture with a try, try assist, line break, line break assist, five tackle breaks and a whopping 179 running metres in the demolition of the North Brisbane side.

Titans-contracted rake Kruise Leeming was also a strong performer in the showing, scoring the opening four-pointer and playing his hand in two more as well as running 126 metres whilst wearing the No. 9 jersey in the contest.

The win gives Tweed a one-point buffer in the top eight, as they next prepare to face the Dolphins for the Liam Hampson Cup in a curtain-raiser to the Gold Coast's Round 19 clash at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday.

It was a tough afternoon for the Burleigh Bears as they went down at home 24-18 to the Falcons for the second time this season, despite Keano Kini again topping the running metres tally with 214.

Errors and missed tackles played a factor in the six-point loss, but Titans fans will be pleased with both Thomas Mikaele and Jacob Alick's efforts given Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, David Fifita and Moeaki Fotuaika's absence this weekend due to Origin commitments.

In Mikaele's return game from injury, he made 130 metres, three offloads and 24 tackles at 92 percent efficiency over 55 minutes; meanwhile Alick was again strong on the edge with 103 running metres, two offloads and 28 tackles at 97 percent efficiency.

The Bears will next face the Hunters in Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
