The Gold Coast Titans are proud to announce Georgia Hale has been appointed the club’s NRLW captain for 2023.
The respected International forward has played in all five seasons of the women’s competition, starring in 19 games and has also been an important part of the Kiwi Ferns since 2015, playing 12 Tests for New Zealand.
The 27-year-old is also known for being a tackling machine, having averaged 40 tackles a game at an incredible 97 percent efficiency in her last season for the Titans and will bring that tenacious defensive attitude again now with the ‘c’ next to her name.
Following input from the playing group to help the decision-making, coach Karyn Murphy feels it was a fitting choice Hale be appointed with the top leadership duty.
“I’m extremely pleased to announce Georgia will be our club captain for 2023,” Murphy said.
“She is the ultimate professional on and off the field… a true leader and is a player the rest of our squad has the upmost respect for and continually looks up to.
“Returning from the UK with a huge desire to help win the Gold Coast’s first premiership, she continually sets the standards and her attitude towards preparation, attention to detail and growth and improvement is second to none.”
Inaugural Titans captain Brittany Breayley-Nati has been named as Hale’s vice, with the former Queensland and Jillaroos rake eager to continue her work in promoting excellence among the young and experienced roster.
“Britto has been an outstanding leader for us in our first two seasons and she will continue to excel in her ability to drive standards among the playing group behind the scenes,” Murphy said.
“She is another player that is highly respected by our team and has a high-level of representative experience at both Origin and International level which has allowed her to really help guide the young and exciting talents in our roster in the past, and I know she will continue to do that again this season.”
Helping appoint both Hale and Breayley-Nati in their roles was the entire NRLW playing roster, with Murphy humbled by the overwhelming support of her team to anoint the duo with respective positions.
“I’m really proud to have both Georgia and Britto as senior leaders of our squad this season and it’s only fitting their peers believe so too,” Murphy said.
“They’ve have been an integral part of the Titans NRLW side since its inception and have been big drivers of the club’s purpose and values as well as developing our squad’s trademarks for this upcoming season.
“I’m really looking forward to working alongside them as we strive for premiership success on the Coast."
