Injury update: Scan results return for Brimson, Fifita

Scans have revealed AJ Brimson suffered a minor rib injury in Sunday’s victory against the Cowboys, but there is good news on the horizon for the Titans star.

The Gold Coast No. 1 will be named for this Friday night’s clash against the Warriors with every intention of backing up and playing, much like he did in the second half of the Round 22 clash against North Queensland.

In further good news, Jojo Fifita could be back as early as Round 25 with a further assessment revealing the young gun to have only suffered a high ankle sprain.

It’s expected he will miss the next two weeks and then be monitored week-to-week to gain clearance to return to train and play.

AJ Brimson and Jojo Fifita are awaiting the results of scans following the duo leaving the field in the Titans' Round 22 win against the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Titans No. 1 was able to return and play in the centres in the second half despite suffering what is initially suspected to be an oblique injury, with a further assessment being made to determine the full extent and severity.

Fifita left the field at half-time with Gold Coast interim head coach Jim Lenihan suggesting at the post-match press conference the young outside back has sustained a syndesmosis injury with scans to reveal the 20-year-old's full diagnosis.

In Thursday's NRLW win against the Broncos, Jessika Elliston passed her head injury assessment after being sent from the field in golden-point; meanwhile, Evania Pelite and Steph Hancock have been cleared of any major injuries and are expected to be named for the Titans' Round 3 clash against the Sharks on Saturday.
