Christmas wish list: What all Titans fans desire in 2024

With only a week to go until the jolly man with a red suit makes his annual visit, Titans fans will be hoping for him to deliver plenty of joy ahead of the 2024 season.

This includes a return to the finals, a boom rookie reaching an incredible milestone and a premiership trophy to return north second time around.

Here are five things on the Legion's wish list they would love to see under their Christmas tree:

Des leads Titans finals revival

It's been a tough past two seasons for the Gold Coast having missed the playoffs in consecutive years, but new mentor Des Hasler has his eyes set on returning the Titans to finals contention - a feat he knows all too well.

In his 20 years coaching in the NRL, he's only missed out on the top eight four times; guiding his teams to five grand finals and winning two premierships across the 458 games he's coached to date.

Whilst wanting to remain tight-lipped when asked if he will take the Titans to finals in his first season, the experienced Hasler has declared he's "quietly optimistic" about his chances.

Beau-tiful return

Beau Fermor's ACL injury was heartbreaking for Titans fans with the talented edge forward going down on the eve of Round 1... but the 25-year-old is back and determined to make up for lost time.

A fit and firing Fermor is a sight to be marvelled, with the 46-gamer finishing 2022 as the top try-scorer and getting a taste of International footy through the PM's XIII, not to mention his call-up into the Queensland Origin extended squad.

Whilst it's unsure yet what side he will play on given David Fifita's 2023 dominance on the left edge, it will be a welcomed return for Beauy whatever side he plays, desiring to pick-up where he left off when he last graced the footy field.

NRLW clinch it second time around

Rugby league folklore suggests you have to lose one to win one, and the Titans NRLW side feel that's the case after narrowly going down to Newcastle in this year's decider.

Karyn Murphy's squad will remain relatively unchanged ahead of 2024 and have their eyes set on making another grand final appearance... but this time with full intention of getting the job done on the big stage to create Gold Coast history.

With the myriad of young stars in the roster having learned plenty from the agonising defeat all thanks to the masterclass of Knights fullback Tamika Upton, they are determined to return to the big stage in 2024, but this time hoist the trophy high at full-time.

Lofi scores 50 in two seasons

Alofiana Khan-Pereira broke the Titans' yearly try-scoring record with an incredible 20 four-pointers in his debut NRL season... but the boom rookie has declared he'll score even more tries in 2024.

The 22-year-old lit up the Hostplus Cup in 2022 to find the line on 25 occasions across 19 appearances, which saw him graduate to the top grade in which he flourished from the very start - scoring six tries in the Titans' two trials before his heroics in the season proper.

Missing out on the Ken Irvine Medal by five tries, the honour is a feat that's on top of the freaky flyer's goal list... could Lofi score 30 tries in 2024 to make it 50 in two seasons?

Rabbitohs flyer Alex Johnston did it in both 2021 and 2022...

Conquering Queensland

There's nothing more fierce than a Queensland rivalry for the Titans and victory against intrastate neighbours delivers such a satisfying feeling... just think back to that memorable Round 17 win against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

With that in mind, the Gold Coast will be aiming to take down all three neighbours in 2024 after the new kids on the block proved troublesome, losing both games against the Dolphins by a mere two points.

Match highlights: Broncos v Titans

Facing the Broncos, Cowboys and Dolphins twice each across the new season, there will be a big emphasis on earning bragging rights against the teams from up the road - especially when at home and in front of big crowds at Cbus Super Stadium; kicking off with a chance to avenge those 2023 Sunshine Showdown results in Round 4 on Easter Saturday.

It will be a similar focus for the Titans NRLW team who successfully knocked over both the Cowboys and Broncos in successive weeks to start the season - having to now face both Queensland rivals away from home in 2024.
