Locked in: Fermor's 379-day wait to reach milestone

It's been a tedious wait for Beau Fermor to bring up a small but important milestone in his NRL career.

Set to play in his 50th game against the Cowboys on Sunday, the Titans forward was supposed to have notched up the feat in this exact fixture 12 months earlier, if not for his season-ending knee injury.

"I've probably taken the longest out of any NRL players to get to 50 games," Fermor joked.

"If you said to me when I was six years old that I’d play 50 NRL games, I would’ve taken that.

"It’s got a bit of an extra special meaning to reach this milestone after missing the whole year last year because it was this game last year that I should’ve brought up 50 games.

"It wasn’t to be so I’m really excited, not only for myself, but to play 50 games at the Titans... I love this club and I love living on the Gold Coast.

"’m really hopeful that we get a win this weekend for the occasion."

Not the only Titan to celebrate a special achievement this weekend, Fermor will join Brian Kelly who celebrates his 150th NRL appearance having debuted for the Manly Sea Eagles in 2017 before coming home in 2019.

The Gold Coast will also see two debutants with Canberra recruit Harley Smith-Shields making his first appearance for the club alongside Josiah Pahulu, who will come off the bench in his maiden NRL game.

The team remains unchanged heading into the clash, with Tom Weaver, Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Jacob Alick-Wiencke dropping out of the extended squad.

Kick-off is at 4.05pm on Sunday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville.
