Affiliate wrap: Titans help Tweed take down Hunters

A brave performance from the Tweed Seagulls has helped them to their first Hostplus Cup victory of the season, overcoming the PNG Hunters 36-28 on Saturday night.

Train-and-trialist Kaleb Ngamanu set things up at Piggabeen with a first half double, whilst Gold Coast development hooker Oskar Bryant crossed for a four-pointer in the 16th minute to add to his three tackle busts and a line break in a player of the match performance.

Tom Weaver also contributed with a line break, line break assist and a try assist, joining Jacob Alick-Wiencke who also contributed in Tweed's first two points of the season.

The Jets toiled hard in their matchup against the Dolphins but fell just short on Sunday, going down 40-32 at North Ipswich Reserve.

Missing Harley Smith-Shields and Josiah Pahulu who both earned their Titans debuts, Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Aaron Schoupp both produced doubles for Ipswich, but it wasn't enough to stop Redcliffe prevailing with two crucial tries in the final nine minutes.

They'll next face the Burleigh Bears at the Reserve on Sunday. Tweed have the bye.
