Locked in: Brimson shift sets up flashing fullback battle

Titans coach Des Hasler has confirmed AJ Brimson will return to the coveted No. 1 jersey with Phil Sami failing his fitness test for Saturday's Sea Eagles clash at Cbus Super Stadium.

The flyer hoped to return from a syndesmosis injury sustained in Round 4 but was unable to get through Thursday's full contact session, resulting in Brimson's shift to fullback to setup a scintillating battle against fellow excitement machine Tom Trbojevic.

Hasler - a former coach of the former Dally M star - knows how dangerous he can be with ball in hand... it's why the 463-game veteran coach is steadfast in ensuring his impact time is limited.

"Don't give him the ball," he put simply when asked by media what the key was to stopping Trbojevic.

Brimson is no slouch in the position neither, having played 68 games in the No. 1 jersey as well as representing his state as recently as in last year's Origin series.

In other team changes 24 hours out, Tanah Boyd will return after a week off, joining Kieran Foran in the halves; whilst the remainder of the side remains as per program with Jacob Alick-Wiencke and Keano Kini also cut from the extended squad alongside Sami.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm on Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast.
