While all eyes are on David Fifita's potential recall to the Maroons, there is another contender who has the full support of Titans coach Des Hasler.
Proud Queenslander Beau Fermor should be firmly in the discussions for an Origin debut given his impressive year according to his club mentor, especially with the versatile performances he has delivered since returning from an ACL injury sustained last season.
The Dalby-born edge forward has played four of his last five games in the centres - excelling in the team-first positional change - showcasing to Billy Slater he would be the perfect option to have on the bench as cover for both positions.
Foran sets up Fermor
Full of praise for Fermor following Friday's gritty 20-16 win against the Sharks, Hasler was quick to suggest it wouldn't just be Fifita who will join Fotuaika in the Maroon for Game III.
"He might have a couple of mates with him," he suggested.
"Obviously Moey (Fotuaika) will be there again, but Beau Fermor I think has also been playing really strong footy as well.
"It’s good to have selection headaches, so they should all be part of it."
Also backed by Gold Coast captain Kieran Foran when he was asked about Fermor's Origin chances on SEN's Mowers Club, his past two months of footy have been something to marvel since fully getting back into the swing of things after 12 months away from the game.
Averaging 184 running metres per game in his past seven appearances, it's the 25-year-old's desperation defence and effort areas that has been a key of his game - most notably in the past fortnight making two try-saving tackles against the Warriors and Sharks that would've have been missed by Slater in his assessment of the Origin hopeful's chances.
Always hungry to represent his state and having gotten the chance to be part of the Maroons' Emerging Origin camp at the start of the year, Fermor is ready to be part of the real deal in such an important game at Suncorp Wednesday week.
"If I get to pull on that Maroon jersey, it would be a dream come true," he told ABC Sport's Saturday NRL coverage.
"Since I was a young kid, I've always wanted to play for Queensland. I hope I'm in the conversation and I hope I get a call that I'll be going into camp.
"I know those decisions aren't up to me. I think I have done everything I can to put my best foot forward and hopefully my phone rings on Sunday's afternoon.
"I'd love to be there but I don't want to get my hopes up too high. There are plenty of good players in Queensland and I think anyone who is selected will do a really good job.
"I hope it's me, but we'll just have to wait and see."
