The Gold Coast Titans congratulate the club's Head of Netball, Temepara Bailey, who will take on the Head Coach role of the Northern Stars in New Zealand's ANZ Premiership.
The Silver Ferns legend will remain part of the Titans setup in a netball consultancy role, while also taking up the chance to coach at the highest level domestically in New Zealand.
Titans CEO Steve Mitchell says the 89-test international has had a huge impact on the club, growing the netball program from a start-up to one that's seeing success on and off court.
"Temepara is a wonderful person and an extraordinary coach," Mitchell said.
"The way she has built our program and our pathways, established a culture that players want to be part of and engaged the local community has been nothing short of phenomenal.
"In a program that has only been running three years, she's taken our Sapphire and Ruby Series programs to grand finals and overseen success in our pathways programs in both the EPL (Gold Coast) and Queensland State Titles.
"We've been vocal in our desire to have a Titans team in the Suncorp Super Netball competition in the future and Temepara Bailey remains a big part of our plans in that space.
"The head coach role at the Northern Stars is the next step in Temepara's coaching journey and we're fully supportive of her continuing to grow what is already an outstanding resume within the sport.
"She'll remain a Titan in 2025 as well, overseeing our programs in a consultancy role and continuing to provide support to our coaches and players as part of their development."
Bailey says she's excited for the challenge at the Stars and grateful to the Titans for allowing the experience.
"I really am grateful to both club's for giving me this opportunity," Bailey said.
"I represented the Stars as a player, so to be able to return to the club at head coach is quite surreal.
"Good coaches need to challenge themselves to continue to improve and I see this as a great challenge to be able to get the experience of coaching in a national competition.
"I'm forever grateful to the Titans for their support and I'm thrilled to remain part of the Titans Netball program into 2025.
"We're really building something special on the Coast and I'm excited to work with our players and coaches again in a slightly different role next season.
"In the space of three years, we have built from the ground up to now have a Sapphire and Ruby series program, two development teams in the EPL competition on the Gold Coast as well as representative teams in the under-age state titles and a Titans Schools competition that has almost had 1000 participants in its inaugural year.
"I'm really pleased that I can stay involved as the club pushes for a Suncorp Super Netball licence in the coming years, but I'm excited about meeting new players, starting a pre-season and ultimately bringing success to the Stars in the ANZ Premiership next year."
