It means so much to me: Campbell All Star dream to become reality

"I remember I was telling my partner and trying not to cry and I said don't make a big deal out of it, but I was proud of myself too."

This was the moment that Titans playmaker, Jayden Campbell found out he was to become an All Star.

"I was down in Foster (NSW) with my family and I got about four or five missed calls in a row from an unknown number," he said.

"And then I decided to answer after the fifth time and it was Ronnie Griffiths, the Indigenous All Stars coach, he asked me if I would like to play and I immediately had a big smile on my face.

"It means so much to me and I am sure it will mean a lot to my family as well, I am super stoked.

"It means a lot. The first representative footy that I wanted to play is All Stars."

Campbell is the son of Titans player number one and Life Member, Preston.

Such is the value the Campbell family name holds with the All Stars concept that Jayden was announced ahead of the full teams being released for the Indigenous and Maori All Stars.

Campbell senior was the founding father of the All Stars concept, bringing it to the NRL and playing in the first edition in 2010.

With son Jayden as the first second generation player it is sure to be a special week in the Campbell household.

"It's exciting, I am pretty sure he is excited as well," Preston Campbell said.

"I am happy for all the men and women that get a chance to play in it.

"It's strange, you always hope that our kids are able to realise their dreams.

"The first All Stars, during the week camp it was Jayden's birthday and we were having our team photo that day and Jayden was there and he jumped right in the middle and took his photo that day on his birthday.

"To think that he is going to be in his own team photo now is strange, very strange.
