The Titans halves pairing looks all but confirmed for the season opener against the Bulldogs, but Des Hasler still has plenty of options up his sleeve should he need to make a change through the season.

With livewires AJ Brimson and Jayden Campbell the likely playmaking partnership after their impressive trial against the Dolphins recently, the Gold Coast also have the very experienced Kieran Foran and former Wallaby Carter Gordon also in the squad.

Titans.com.au has identified the key players who could be in the halves across the season in the 2025 edition of the depth deep dive.

AJ Brimson

Age: 26 | Appearances: 112

Growing up and even making his NRL debut at five-eighth, Brimson is expected to be the first choice No. 6 for the Titans in 2025, especially after his recent impressive trial showing against the Dolphins.

The Queensland Origin rep has played almost a third of his career as a playmaker, with 32 out of his 112 games played in the halves for the Titans (most of which were early in his career).

The 26-year-old is shaping up to be a real thorn in opposition sides, with his immense speed and instinctiveness his top attribute in creating opportunities and piling on the points for the Titans.

Injuries have cruelled Brimson in the past but the excitement machine has reported for duty at 100 percent fitness the entire pre-season and hopes to remain that way for a strong 2025 season ahead.

Jayden Campbell

Age: 25 | Appearances: 58

Campbell's switch to the halves proved a revelation for the Titans last season, following the footsteps of his dad Preston who also began his career at fullback before moving to the pivotal playmaking position.

Playing 11 of his 15 appearances at five-eighth in 2024, the 25-year-old played his hand in 11 tries as well as crossing the line on five occasions - including in the Coast's last game of the season against the Panthers when he stepped Australian duo Dylan Edwards and Liam Martin to score the Titans' try of the year.

He's expected to continue to transfer his talents to the halves in 2025 after a perfect matinee alongside AJ Brimson in the most recent trial, but still offers plenty of versatility in other positions as well should he be called upon to do so by Des Hasler.

Kieran Foran

Age: 34 | Appearances: 303

The veteran playmaker is back for his 17th season and while a new role off the bench may be on the cards for the 34-year-old, there is no disputing his impressive resume in the halves.

Making 21 appearances in 2024, the Kiwi International came up with 15 try assists and two of his own as the No. 7, also skippering the team in Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's absence.

Always a reliable option for Des Hasler who has now coached him for six seasons of his career across both the Sea Eagles and Titans, he'll be ready in whatever role the two-time premiership-winning mentor asks him to fill.

Carter Gordon

Age: 24 | Appearances: 0

Having reached the pinnacle in rugby union, the former Wallabies fly-half makes his transition full-time to rugby league in 2025 and naturally, the halves is his most suited position given his 15-a-side talents.

After a formidable start to his professional sporting career with the Melbourne Rebels before International duties, the 24-year-old got an initial first taste with the Tweed Seagulls, making four appearances - two as a centre and two in the halves - scoring in every game last season.

One of the most impressive trainers during the pre-season at Parkwood, Gordon missed the recent trials due to a back injury, but is expected to get back to full training soon with plenty of Titans fans excited to see him push for an NRL debut this year.
