Locked in: Prop of the year joins Magic Round squad
Reigning Hostplus Cup prop of the year Tukimihia Simpkins has been included in the Titans' 19-man squad that will face the Bulldogs at Magic Round on Sunday.
Joining Gold Coast as a development player over the off-season after an impressive season with the Norths Devils, earning the gong as the best front rower in 2024, the 23-year-old has made five Cup appearances so far this year as he pushes towards a NRL return after previously playing five games with the Wests Tigers.
Simpkins' inclusion on the extended bench is the only change to the team travelling to Suncorp Stadium, with David Fifita confirmed to line-up for the Ipswich Jets on Sunday after being named among the reserves on Tuesday.
Jacob Alick-Wiencke and Allan Fitzgibbon will also play Hostplus Cup - the duo and Fifita the three men cut from Gold Coast's squad 24 hours out.
Having won two of their past three Magic Round clashes, the Titans will be eyeing to avenge their Round 2 loss to the Bulldogs to get back in the winners' circle after a tough month of results.
Kick-off is at 1.50pm on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
