As the rugby league world braces for another epic State of Origin showdown tonight, all eyes will be on two of the game's best and biggest forwards in Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Payne Haas.

Their fierce rivalry, ignited in the cauldron of Origin, is set to double this week, as they clash at Accor Stadium before leading their respective clubs into battle this Sunday at Cbus Super Stadium.

A Rivalry Forged in Fire

To many, the rivalry between Fa'asuamaleaui and Haas dates back to the 2020 State of Origin series, but in truth the forward leaders have been allies and enemies for years through their junior journeys.

In Game II 2020, tensions boiled over when the two young enforcers exchanged blows, resulting in both being sin-binned.

Despite the fiery encounter, both players have maintained mutual respect off the field, acknowledging the competitive spirit and talent that fuels their on-field confrontations and a desire to win for their respective states and teams.

Both know if they can get over their opposite number it will go a long way to their side winning.

State vs State, Mate vs Mate

Tonight's Origin clash is about more than just state pride, it's a personal battle between two enforcers of the game.

Fa'asuamaleaui, the Titans captain, will don the Maroons jersey, while Haas, the Brisbane Broncos powerhouse, represents the Blues.

With both sides looking to get an early forward ascendancy their head-to-head confrontation is sure to be a highlight of the Origin finale.

Queensland have recalled veteran front rower Josh Papali'i so 'Big Tino' will have strong support from his fellow mullet-sporting prop, while Haas will lead a Blues side looking to make it two series in a row.

Club Clash: Titans v Broncos

The rivalry doesn't end with Origin though.

This Sunday the Titans host the  Broncos in the Macca's Local Derby at Cbus Super Stadium.

Both Fa'asuamaleaui and Haas will transition from state rivals to club adversaries, bringing their Origin intensity to the NRL stage on the Coast.

The match promises a physical showdown, with both forwards leading their packs in a battle for Queensland supremacy.
