Marymount eyes history as Kinetic Titans Schools League deciders arrive

The stage is set for a massive day of school footy, with five Kinetic Titans Schools League grand finals to be live streamed back-to-back on KommunityTV this Monday.

Marymount College is chasing a third-straight Titans Cup title in the Open Boys division and will be led by standout fullback Ryder Abell, who is fresh off a two-try haul and player of the match performance in the semi-final.

With key names like Basil Coates (younger brother of Melbourne NRL player Xavier) and Oliver Friend (son of former Titan Nathan Friend) in the mix, they’ll face a tough Keebra Park SHS 11s outfit who caused a semi-final upset over the Keebra Park SHS 12s.

Marymount will also feature in the Open Girls Challenge final, taking on Marsden State High. The girls have been the form side all season, going unbeaten and boasting front-row weapon Kiara Wright.

No matter the result on Monday, this won’t be the last time we see both Marymount College sides take the field in 2025.

Following strong performances in the Kinetic Titans Schools League, the Open Girls have secured their spot in the Karyn Murphy Cup finals series.

Meanwhile, the Marymount College Opens Boys will slot into the National Schoolboy Cup finals series as sixth seed, taking on the third place Langer Trophy side (yet to be determined).

The boys’ Titans Challenge decider promises fireworks as Aquinas College meets a red-hot Tweed River High, who stormed through their semi-final with backrower Jesse Whittick leading the charge. Tweed River High School will be looking to make things right in 2025 after falling just short in their inaugural season last year, finishing runners-up in the 2024 grand final and missing out on silverware

In the Year 9/10 Girls Titans Cup, Keebra Park SHS and Marsden SHS will go head-to-head after dominant semi-final wins. Look out for Keebra’s Olivia Flikitonga, who bagged a hat trick last week. Both Marsden SHS and Keebra Park SHS have showcased their dominance throughout the Year 9/10 Girls Cup competition, with many of their standout players aiming to impress and stake their claim for a National Schoolgirl Cup jersey in 2026
