Key Three: Sharks dominant as errors hurt Titans hard

Cronulla have continued their dominance over the Titans at Shark Park, with a convincing 54 points to 22 win.

The Titans performance we error riddled, and the Sharks who are one finals bound showed their class to keep their strong record against the Gold Coast side in tact.

Tino Fa’asuamaleaui returned from an MCL (knee) injury, but left the field for a head injury assessment.  It was a category two assessment, which he passed, returning to the field for the last 20-minutes of the game.

Here are the key three points from the match.

ERRORS GALORE AS SHARKS RUN RIOT

Cronulla were absolutely dominant, but the Titans equally gave them opportunity after opportunity.  The high ball proved the Sharks super power, with the Titans either spilling the catch of getting taken in to touch after catching on multiple occasions.  The commentators consistently noted that the Titans were their own worst enemy - that is perhaps the best summary of the afternoon.

FOZ FAREWELL TO SYDNEY

He’s got three games left to go, but there’s still a few pages left in the old Kieran Foran playbook.  In his fourth-last NRL game, the 35-year-old played with the same energy as his debut game.  In commentary, Fox League’s Andrew Voss said “who is this teenage Foran”.  He continues to take on the line and his pass selection again today was on point, albeit with limited opportunities in a beaten side.  This was his last visit to Sydney and unfortunately his final game in New South Wales didn’t go as hoped.

There are three more times to see Kieran in action - twice at Cbus Super Stadium (Round 25 against the Warriors and Round 27 against the Tigers) and once at Suncorp Stadium (Round 26 against The Dolphins).

KINI COMEBACK COMPLETE

For the first time since round three, Keano Kini pulled on the Titans jersey and it was wonderful to see the reigning Paul Broughton Medallist back in action.  After a long rehab and recovery for s serious neck injury, Kini returned to the park last week with Tweed Seagulls where he played 40-minutes of footy.  Today at Shark Park, it was a return off the bench for the 21-year-old who managed 18 minutes on the wing.  With limited opportunities, he still managed to show glimpses of brilliance.  Titans fans will hope to see more of Keano over the last three rounds of the year.
