Titans celebrate historic Leagueability triple header at Cbus

The Gold Coast Titans recently celebrated a major milestone for inclusive rugby league on Saturday September 6, hosting the first-ever Leagueability triple header at Cbus Super Stadium.

In front of a supportive crowd of 16,093, and as part of the club's final NRL game of the season, more than 100 players with disability from across Australia and New Zealand took the field in what was a historic afternoon of rugby league that showcased the true meaning of inclusion.

Since the inception of the Leagueability program nearly seven years ago, one of the Titans’ primary goals has been to see each of their teams matched up against opponents on the big stage at Cbus Super Stadium.

That vision became a reality with three dedicated Titans Leagueability sides facing off against interstate and international opposition.

The action began with the Titans Inclusive Rugby League team taking on the North Queensland Cowboys All Abilities side in a passionate Queensland derby.

The Cowboys proved too strong, claiming a 40-16 victory, with Jackson Farrow (Cowboys #14) awarded Player of the Match.

Next up, the Titans Adaptive Tackle Team welcomed the New Zealand Warriors PDRL squad for their first-ever clash on the Gold Coast.

The Warriors displayed their quality in a dominant performance, securing a 50-14 win, with Warriors captain, Mal Davis, named Player of the Match.

The afternoon wrapped up with the Titans All Abilities team facing off against the Tweed Seagulls Leagueability squad, who recently launched their own program through the Pathway to Play online course.

The contest proved to be evenly matched, with both sides sharing the honours in a thrilling 16-all draw.

Renee Cohen, General Manager Community & Game Development, said the event was an inspiring moment for the club and the inclusive rugby league community.

“This triple header was a dream realised for our program and every single player who has pulled on the Titans jersey over the years," she said.

"To see our teams take the field on such a stage, supported by such a big crowd of fans, is a testament to the power of rugby league.

"We are so proud of what was achieved and even more excited for what the future holds.”

The Leagueability matches marked a proud chapter in the Titans’ commitment to inclusion, highlighting once again that rugby league is not just a game, but a community where everyone belongs.
