The Gold Coast Future Titans will be hungry for revenge when they face the Wests Tigers in the annual Anthony Laffranchi Cup.
With their Sydney counterparts having won the silverware in the showdown last season, the squad will travel to Lennox Head for the Under 16 clash with an eye to bring the trophy back across the border in the first of two pathways games upcoming for the next generation stars.
Whilst Laffranchi - who is a Tigers and Titans legend having played 205 games between the two clubs - won't have any family representation in the clash this season after having both sons Oscar and Fynn represent the Gold Coast in previous years, the new Gold Coast head of recruitment will be eager to see the talent on display.
Following this weekend's matchup, the Future Titans will then face the Melbourne Storm at North Ipswich Reserve on Tuesday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday at Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre, Lennox Head.
Titans.com.au has identified several Future Titans players to watch in the showdown:
Austin Desmond
The Keebra Park product is a promising young forward with the versatility of playing in the middle or on the edge. Having had a number of masterclass performances in both attack and defence during the Walters Cup this season, he's expected to continue showing his potential as one of the highly-competitive players in action against the Tigers.
Leo Briggs
Briggs has advanced through the Titans academy and is now making significant strides in the Future Titans program. Previously representing Queensland at the Under 15 ASSRL National Championships, the Ipswich Grammar outside back poses as a threat out wide in both attack and defence.
