The Gold Coast Titans and Shannon Mato have agreed to a mutual release from the remainder of her contract on compassionate grounds.
Supporting her throughout her pregnancy with a role in the Titans’ community and game development team, a change to Mato’s personal circumstances have led to granting the release from the final two years of her deal, with the club fully respecting her decision.
The Maroons and Jillaroos forward joined the Coast for its inaugural NRLW season in 2021, going on to play 27 games and has played a big role for Karyn Murphy’s side in its formative years.
"Shannon has consistently been one of our best players on-field, claiming our NRLW player of the year award in two of the four seasons she's played with us," the Titans coach said.
"She's been a huge part of establishing our NRLW program and the club is grateful for her contributions both on and off field.
"We wish Shannon the best for the next stage of her career and thank her for what she's brought during her time at the Titans."
Mato missed the 2025 season after announcing she was pregnant with her first child.
