International selection tracker: Lofipo chooses Samoa after Jillaroos selection

Sienna Lofipo has made the decision to represent her Pasifika heritage, choosing to instead play for Fetū Sāmoa at the upcoming Pacific Championships.

Originally named for the Jillaroos on Monday, the Titans star shared her desire to remain loyal to Samoa after helping them qualify for their maiden Women's World Cup next year.

"I’m incredibly honoured and grateful to be selected for the Jillaroos but after thinking long and hard and talking with my family, I want to represent Samoa again this year," Lofipo said.

"It was an extremely tough decision, but I want to uphold the commitment I made to Samoa after qualifying last year for our first Women’s Rugby League World Cup in 2026.

"I want to thank Jillaroos coach Jess Skinner for considering me and I wish her and the squad well for the Pacific Championships."

Lofipo is one of eight Titans selected in the Samoan squad; alongside Laikha Clarke, Destiny Mino-Sinapati, Estanoa Faitala-Mariner, Niall Williams-Guthrie, Pauline Piliae-Rasabale, Sarina Masaga and Taliah Fuimaono.

Their first match is against the Jillaroos on Sunday, October 26 at Suncorp Stadium.

Kini earns Kiwi call-up to redeem sidelined season

Keano Kini will put his long-term neck injury behind him when he returns to the International stage, one of three Titans to wear the Kiwis jersey at the upcoming Pacific Championships.

The livewire No. 1 joins New Zealand veteran Kieran Foran who will play one last series after announcing his retirement this year, with Stacey Jones wanting the 31 Test star to bring his experience to his squad.

In the Kiwi Ferns, Titans NRLW captain Georgia Hale will skipper her nation again after another strong and consistent season at lock, motivated to take down Australia once again, like in 2023.

Tino headlines three Titans in Australia squads

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui will make his International rugby league return later this month when he takes part in the reignited Ashes series against England.

Selected by Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters to make the trip abroad, the Titans captain is one of three Titans selected for the upcoming representative period, with two Gold Coast NRLW stars set to play for the Jillaroos.

That includes the potential debut of Sienna Lofipo, who has been selected for the green and gold for the first time after previously playing for Samoa in the Pacific Championships.

Titans player of the year and Dally M prop of the year Jess Elliston has also been named and will hope to earn a starting jersey after being part of the extended squad for the Jillaroos' last match in Las Vegas.

The Kangaroos will play their first match against England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, October 25; meanwhile, the Jillaroos will kickstart their Pacific Championships campaign against Fetu Samoa at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, October 26.
