Nothing off limits at Members Forum

A packed crowd filled Cbus Super Stadium's betr Lounge for the club's annual Member Forum.

And nothing was off limits for the club's most invested fans as they asked questions across the high-performance facility, recruitment, on-field success, team selection, team song, Membership changes and more.

On the panel was co-owner Rebecca Frizelle, CEO Steve Mitchell, NRL head coach Josh Hannay, NRLW head coach Karyn Murphy and Director of Football (NRL) Scott Sattler.

Members were allowed to pre-submit questions which the group answered, before opening the floor to all Members.

Club co-owner, Rebecca Frizelle opened the night addressing the new owners that joined the club recently and the impact they can have on the organisation going forward.

"Every single person that is sitting in the business now is desperate to be here and they believe in it, and where it is going," she said.

Newcomer, Scott Sattler expanded upon this enthusiasm and said he joined because he believed in the vision of the club and wanted to make a difference.

"I felt I could help in some small way and I have always wanted success for Gold Coast rugby league and always been a fan since 1988 with the Giants," he said

Below are a selection of the questions that were asked...

What is being done at the club to improve team performance?
Head coach Josh Hannay spoke to 'raising the floor' of the roster and creating more competition in the squad that helps 'steel sharpen steel' and through the roster changes this was now in a position where this could happen. He also spoke to a desire to continue to develop and coach players because 'just making the NRL doesn't mean you know it all.'

Tell us about why 'connection' is so important to you
Coach Hannay spoke to the importance of connection and the impact that has on a successful team and club. That includes staff, players, families, Members and community at every touch point. Owner Rebecca Frizelle added that everyone is feeding off this positive energy and there has been a demonstrative uplift across the business over the last two months.

What identity do you want your teams to have?
A similar question was asked of both coaches and they gave a similar answer - A team you know, a team you can identify and be proud of. In the NRLW space Murphy spoke to her side's 'junkyard dog' mentality and their ability to fight for every scrap, winning games that they possibly shouldn't have in 2025. Hannay spoke of a desire to build a similar mentality in his team, making them proud to win gritty.

How is the club ensuring the new recruits fit into the cultural direction?
Scott Sattler spoke to the type of people and players that the club wants to recruit and the process all new recruits go through before joining. Josh Hannay added that the re-signings of Jayden Campbell and Beau Fermor were endorsements for the culture being set in the club and what is being built. Sattler furthered his point in that identifying players who wanted to join to make a difference to the football program and love working hard for that success.

What are you doing to secure our pathways
Scott Sattler spoke to the beefed up Future Titans program that now includes well regarded pathways coach Nathan Small, former NRL players Todd Carney and Matt Keating leading the department. The club is investing in providing the best coaching and development to bring the next crop of players through.

Karyn Murphy spoke to the amount of local talent that plays for the Titans as a success of the pathways for the club and also the experience that Phoenix-Raine Hippi who came through the club from the Northern Rivers, into club's pathways and eventually onto making a dream debut in 2025 for the Titans - scoring nine tries in seven games. She capped the year off with a PMXIII debut, making Murphy and the club proud.

What are you doing to engage the community?
Frizelle spoke to club's new Try Time Tales program in schools and a desire to spend more time in the community and schools to build genuine relationships within the club's fanbase. Hannay added that he came from a small community in Moranbah and that rugby league and that community are intertwined and the value that the two being aligned can have to uplift a team and city shouldn't be underestimated.

Will the club celebrate its 20th year?
Some clubs choose to celebrate in the 20th year, while others celebrate the full 20 years in totality. The Titans will be celebrating the full 20 years in 2027 including the likes of marquee events, special logos, team of 20 years and a hall of fame. More detail to come as 2027 season approaches, but it is one the club is excited to have coming up and celebrate with the Member base.

What was behind the decision to move the Frontline section?
The club wants to grow the Frontline to challenge some of the biggest active fanbases in the competition and the move to the new location allows that section to grow and directly counter the away supporter bay at the opposite end of the field. The club has already seen growth in the Membership category for 2026 and will be investing in activations that will help make the section more colourful, loud and noisy, and ultimately help the team on the field. The club also acknowledged long term Members and their choice to remain in the their existing seating and the value they also bring to the club and atmosphere.

Will the club have a team song soon?
The question was one of the most asked ahead of the forum and owner Rebecca Frizelle declared the club was ready to bring it to life. It was also debated the type of song - traditional or contemporary - that the club should have and fans would get behind, which split opinions across the floor.

With the night running for over two hours, the panel and Members in attendance were highly engaged across the evening with detailed questions and responses flowing right until the very end.

One thing was for sure, the club's Members, coaches, staff and players are all aligned in being excited for the year ahead.

Rebecca Frizelle finished the night by saying "we can't wait for 2026!"
