Cooper commits: Bai to remain a homegrown Titan

Gold Coast-born and bred product Cooper Bai will remain a Titan after inking a fresh contract extension to cement his NRL future.

Turning down interest from several other clubs to be committed to new coach Josh Hannay’s vision, the PNG International is looking to build on a whirlwind 2025 that concluded with a NRL debut in Round 27 and call-up for the Kumuls.

Spending his first full-time season on a train-and-trial deal after graduating from the club’s Future Titans pathway, the dynamic forward will join the top 30 squad and continue to be an important part of Gold Coast’s engine room.

Hannay said the extension was a strong endorsement of Bai’s development and potential.

"Cooper is a player who has worked incredibly hard to earn his NRL opportunity for his hometown," he said.

"What excites us most is he’s yet another player from our pathways that has committed to the future of this club, having been a Titan his entire life.

"He continues to impress with his work ethic, physicality and commitment and brings great energy to our group through his application to training and hunger to better himself every day.

"The sky is the limit for Cooper, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow as a player after his debut season."

Bai is grateful for the confidence shown in him and the bright future ahead at the Titans.

"The Gold Coast has always been my home and I’m proud that will continue," he said.

"Making my NRL debut last year for my hometown was a dream come true and the Titans have given me a great opportunity to continue my professional rugby league journey with the close support of my family and friends.

"I love being part of this club and community, and I can’t wait to keep working hard and doing my part for the team and the Coast."

Bai’s extension comes after Tino Fa’asuamaleaui secured his future until the end of the 2030 season, joining the likes of Keano Kini, AJ Brimson, Jayden Campbell and Beau Fermor who have also committed long-term in a bid to bring premiership success to the region under Hannay.
