As you dive into your Titans Team Picker this week, eyes turn to the battle at the heart of the park, in the hooker position.

With depth, variety and plenty of competition around the No. 9 jersey in 2026, this group shapes up as one of the more intriguing battles in the spine.

Let’s break down the men looking to stamp their mark on the season from dummy-half.

Sam Verrills
The incumbent No. 9, Verrills brings composure, sharp service and strong defensive resolve. Now well settled on the Coast, the premiership-winning rake helps lead the defensive line every week.

Luke Sommerton
Arriving from Penrith, Sommerton adds competitiveness and smarts to the mix. Hungry for opportunity, his experience in the Penrith system should set him up will in the Titans hooking rotation.

Oliver Pascoe
A Petero Civoniceva Medallist at Hostplus Cup level, Pascoe has earned his opportunity. Tough and consistent, he’ll be looking to translate that form into an NRL impact and has already been selected for the NRL Indigenous All Stars this pre-season.

Chris Randall
Randall’s utility value remains a strength. While his role may shift around the middle, his toughness and work rate ensure he’s always in the conversation and can do a job at no.9 if called upon.

So when you fire up the Titans Team Picker this week, who gets your nod at dummy-half?

The established starter, the fresh challenger, the in-form Q Cup performer or the versatile competitor?
