Affiliate wrap: New Titans star as Tweed, Ipswich notch up wins

New recruit Jensen Taumoepeau made his Hostplus Cup debut in style, helping Tweed to a 34-28 win over the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Starring on the wing with a try, a line break, six tackle busts and 128 running metres in his first outing for the Seagulls, the 25-year-old wasn't the only new Titan to impress with Jett Liu also contributing with 61 minutes up front - also making 128 metres with 50 of those post-contact.

A solid start under new coach Joe O'Callaghan, Tweed next travel to Cairns to face the Northern Pride on Saturday afternoon.

It was equally impressive for Ipswich, who dominated from start to finish to shut-out the Blackhawks 30-0.

Reigning Petero Civoniceva Medallist Oliver Pascoe was in the thick of the action with a dominant 80 minute performance at hooker, topping the tackle count with 33 tackles; as was Josh Patston who opened up the try-scoring account with an early four-pointer.

The recently re-signed edge forward also notched up 142 running metres as well as a line break, line break assist and try assist after narrowing missing out on a Round 1 NRL berth.

Tony Francis also started his Jets career with a strong showing after making the switch from Tweed over the off-season; laying on two tries and making three line breaks on the wing.

Ipswich's big win puts them on top of the ladder as they next face the Sunshine Coast Falcons in Hervey Bay on Saturday.
