Affiliate wrap: Fanciful Francis fuelling Jets' top four claims

The Ipswich Jets will remain in third on the Hostplus Cup ladder heading into their second bye this coming week, despite their shock loss to the Clydesdales at the weekend.

Going down 38-24 in Dayboro on Sunday, errors proved costly for Tye Ingebrigtsen's side, only completing at 65 percent; but Titans flyer Tony Francis' scintillating form this season was a shining light in the contest, again topping Ipswich's running metres with 148 across the 80-minutes on the wing.

The 23-year-old sits fifth overall for average metres gained (178), but is still top of the table when it comes to other key stats - including line breaks (12), post-contact metres (698) and offloads (29).

One of several Gold Coast contracted players who have helped the Jets' rise this season, Ingebrigtsen praised the Titans for their continued affiliation after both clubs renewed their partnership until the end of the 2027 season.

"The access the Titans give us for our coaches - especially myself - to go down there to training at least once a week and get an insight into what it’s like at a professional level has been outstanding," he told the Qplus broadcast.

"We also get the luxury of getting quality players back each week and the inclusion of those guys each week has really helped us."

Ipswich next travel to Townsville to face the Blackhawks on June 13.

For Tweed, they were locked in a 22-22 stalemate with the Northern Pride in what was the Cup's record-breaking ninth draw of the season.

Moving to 11th at the halfway point of the competition, the Seagulls next host Papua New Guinea at Piggabeen on Saturday.
